The Centre for the Study of Adolescence (CSA) has partnered with Inter-church Organization for Development Cooperation (ICCO-Central and Eastern Africa) and East Africa National Networks of AIDS Service Organization (EANNASO) to implement a project funded by Amplify Change. CSA manages the overall program and coordinates the activities in Kenya. ICCO-Central and Eastern Africa coordinates activities in Uganda and EANNASO coordinates activities in Tanzania.
This project aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania to:
- Address young people’s SRHR more effectively in their programmes and
- To hold governments accountable for protecting young people’s SRHR.
As a result of this, young people will have more access to comprehensive reproductive health services; their sexual health will be improved and stigma, discrimination, attitudes and laws will be challenged
The main objective is to increase access to and quality of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) programs for young people. We aim to build the capacity of 36 CSOs to effectively address young people’s SRHR and strengthen their advocacy capacity. The capacity building activities focus on increasing CSOs capacity to develop and implement evidence-based and rights-based programs, monitor and evaluate the results and advocate for supportive policies and scale up. The increased ability to implement comprehensive programs and collect data in communities, will contribute to effectively engaging in policy dialogue and advocacy. It will also enable CSOs to develop, implement and monitor pilot projects that can be subsequently used to influence policy and practice
