HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH POLICY MAKERS ON THE DEMOGRAPHIC DIVIDEND
Center for the Study of Adolescence and Population Reference Bureau are organizing two workshops in Nairobi & Kilifi to train youth advocates in Kenya on how to communicate with policy makers on the demographic dividend. The Nairobi workshop will be attended by young people from the following counties: Nairobi, Kajiado, Kitui, Narok, Nakuru, Bomet, Murang’a and Kiambu Counties (7 Counties). The Kilifi workshop will be attended by young people from the following counties: Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Taita Taveta Counties (4 Counties)
When are the workshops?
Nairobi workshop: 19th-21st July 2017
Kilifi workshop: 26th-28th July 2017
Who is eligible to apply?:
Youth advocates between the ages 18-30 years and they meet the selection criteria as outlined in the application form.
What will they learn?:
The workshop will introduce the topic of the demographic dividend, and teach participants about evidence-based policy communication. Participants will learn how to define policy goals, identify target audiences, and craft communication objectives. Participants will ultimately be able to translate how investments in young people’s health, education, and job growth are critical to Kenya achieving a demographic dividend.
After the workshop is complete, participants will be required to plan and implement their own policy communication activity related to the demographic dividend in their county. Participants will receive follow-up technical support and some limited financial support to implement their activity.
